;D 3 juniors 2 supermods and 4 sprintcars made the annual trek to the bay this year with mixed results.
the juniors ,bradley craig,,cale sotiroff and jess hall ran well all day until bradley bounced the wall in the third heat, bent his suspension and put him out for the rest of the day. cale and jess started in the feature in 6th and 14th respectively.cale was hit hit early in a small pile up on turn 2 which put him out ,jess was left to carry the gero flag in her new car,and she finished in a respectable 10th.
the supermods put on a good show with smithy taking it up to the southern boys until he succumbed to mechanical problems.paul ahearn dominated the day showing the boys from the south how its done.they took it up to him ,challenging him on numerous occasions but his driving talent and the hemi fended them off to win the feature in style.
the sprint cars had huge day. mick doble blitzed the heats and he earned pole for the feature.hookey was on fire in his heats and he started in 5th. robbie stevens did it the hard way through the b main and was able to make the tail of the a main.
mick maintained a handy lead all the way, unfortunately hookey withdrew with a serious vibration and had to watch from the infield as mick took out a well earned 1st, robbie came in a fast 3rd.mark wells had a great day with his heats but with some grumbling around the track ,mark was put in the open feature,,,,,,,,,in his LTD car and won the day in style as mark knows how to do.
well done to all who competed at this years far western championships
